Mexico vs. Brazil - Final Score 0-0 450776306.0_standard_709.0

Brazil and Mexico produced a brilliant game, and both sides had plenty of chances to seal the victory but in the end neither could break the deadlock.

Brazil and Mexico produced a pulsating, end-to-end encounter in a raucous atmosphere for their Group A clash, but the teams could not be separated despite both sides throwing everything at their opponents.

Mexico produced a simply stunning performance to keep up with Brazil, and both sides had several chances to win the game, but a combination of poor end product from the underdogs and a sublime performance from Guillermo Ochoa kept the scores level for both sides.

It was another suggestion that this Brazil side is not quite at the level many have expected, and will have to improve drastically and quickly as the tournament progresses. For Mexico, this was a sublime performance, far better than their opening game, and one which will give them an excellent chance of making it into the knockout stages.

The game got off to a start that would define the rest of the game as both sides looked to attack and looked to break quickly and in numbers.

The first chance of the game looked to fall to Fred after Oscar continued his fine form to set up the big striker with a sublime pass, but after only finding the side netting with his left foot, he was revealed to be offside. Brazil were on top, but Mexico began to grow into the game, and Julio Cesar was called into action to produce an excellent save from Hector Herrera's rasping 25-yard drive.

Neymar came the closest in the first half, getting up well to flick on Dani Alves' cross into the far corner, but with the entire stadium leaping to its feet, Guillermo Ochoa pulled off a mindblowing save, leaping to his right to claw the ball off the line and away one-handed.

A José Vazquez drive which whistled narrowly wide was as close as Mexico could get in the first period afterwards, and Ochoa was called into action again after Thiago Silva flicked on a set-piece for David Luiz, only for the Mexican goalkeeper to rush out and deny the Chelsea defender with a heroic block.

Brazil appeared to be turning the screw, and Bernard's introduction at half-time was the plan to help them break the deadlock. Yet they immediately faced a Mexican onslaught as their opponents found another gear, repeatedly storming towards the Brazil area with menace. Giovani dos Santos went the closest before Oribe Peralta joined in, but Cesar was equal to both attempts as nerves began to seep in around the Selecao.

Neymar had another fine effort as the game turned into a frantic, end-to-end battle, but once again Ochoa produced a fine save to deny the talismanic forward before Mexico desperately hacked it clear from the advancing Brazil attackers. Both sides turned to striker substitutions to break the deadlock as Javier Hernandez replaced Oribe Peralta and Jo came in for Fred. And it was the Brazilian replacement who had the clearest chance after a fine pass from Bernard, but he rushed his shot and dragged a poor effort off-target.

Ochoa produced yet another in a string of saves when Silva got highest to a corner, but the Paris Saint-Germain centre-back headed it too close to the Mexico goalkeeper, who was able to push it away once more. The game was not letting up even as injury-time beckoned, with a chance seemingly coming every minute as Brazil and Mexico took it in turns to attack, but Marcelo saw a penalty shout turned down and Raul Jiminez blazed just over the bar to end the game 0-0. One of the best 0-0's you might ever see, but a goalless draw nonetheless.

Brazil: Cesar, Alves, Silva, Luiz, Marcelo, Gustavo, Paulinho, Ramires (Bernard 46'), Oscar (Willian 84')(, Neymar; Fred (Jo 68').

Mexico: Ochoa, Rodriguez, Moreno, Marquez, Aguilar, Herrera (Fabian 76'), Vazquez, Guardado, Layun, dos Santos (Jimenez 84'),  Peralta (Hernandez 74').

It was exciting for me, I was happy to see Mexico tie against the highly touted Brazil team.
