| At Glory 13 this weekend, Glory confirmed the initial details on an upcoming show. On March 8, Glory will present Glory 14 live from Zagreb, Croatia. And as any kickboxing fan can tell you, a show coming from Croatia can only mean one thing - Cro Cop. The K-1, Pride, and (kind of) UFC great will make his Glory debut in Zagreb as he faces fellow Hall of Fame fighter Remy Bonjasky. These two men have fought once before, at a K-1 show in 2002. There, Cro Cop took the win via 2nd round KO. Since his return to kickboxing last year, Cro Cop has gone 6-0. His last kickboxing appearance came in March, when he won the K-1 Grand Prix, also in Zagreb. He has taken one MMA fight since that GP win, losing at a show in Russia in November. For his part, Bonjasky is just 2-3 since his own return to kickboxing last year, though he has most definitely fought tougher competition than Cro Cop. Bonjasky is coming off a controversial decision loss to Anderson Braddock Silva at Glory 13. No other fights have yet been announced for the Zagreb show. Also reported, though not yet confirmed, is a possible February Glory show in Denver, Colorado. That show is rumored to be taking place on Feb. 15, and a poster making its way around today indicates a few fights already signed: Gokhan Saki vs. Hesdy Gerges, plus a Light Heavyweight tournament featuring Zabit Samedov vs. Danyo Ilunga and Brian Collette vs. Saulo Cavalari. Again, this show, which is also being billed as Glory 14 and, according to the poster, will air live on Spike, has not yet been confirmed by Glory, so that that with a grain of salt. Source ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh dear. If this is true then this is a huge mistake by Cro Cop, Bonjasky will destroy Cro Cop imo. The guy is still an amazing kickboxer. He is coming off three losses in a row, but they're to amazing kickboxers also. This is a very very dangerous fight for Cro Cop and I don't see him winning this one. |

As much as I want to believe, I think I have to agree with you here Merc. Cro Cop's return to K1 looks very nice and pretty on paper, but look at the guys he fought to win last year's GP. Combining amateur and professional records, Jarrell Miller has eight total recorded kickboxing matches. Randy Blake has never faced a big-name K1 fighter outside of losing to Cro Cop, and Zhuravlev's biggest win was probably against Gokhan Saki five years ago. Ismael Londt? Come on, the best guy he ever beat was Hesdy Gerges, which isn't really saying a whole lot these days. He will get smashed by Badr Hari come this May. Cro Cop beat Bonjasky over ten years ago, I don't see this one playing out anywhere near the way the first fight did. |
