Kckboxer Badr Hari has been sentenced to 18 months in jail. The K-1 fighter has been in legal troubles for the past two years stemming from an assault at a Dutch nightclub. After the initial charges, a number of other reports came forward implicating Hari in multiple other incidents. This 18 month sentence comes from Hari being found guilty on multiple counts of assault.
While Hari has been sentenced to 18 months, he will not actually be in jail for the next year and a half. Already, 6 months of the sentence have been suspended. He has also already served time while awaiting trial. The end result is that Hari will now serve 4-5 months.
The prosecution had requested a sentence of four years, and is expected to appeal this decision.
A K-1 Grand Prix finalist in 2008, Hari was at one time one of the top Heavyweights in all of kickboxing. However, Hari has been fighting only sporadically since a 2010 disqualification loss in It's Showtime. Hari went 2-1 in 2013, and was scheduled to return to the ring this spring.
UPDATE: Reports indicate that the prosecution has indeed filed an appeal, and Hari's lawyers will decide next week if they will also appeal. Hari's actual jail time will begin once the appeal process is decided.
UPDATE #2: Bloody Elbow has confirmed with K-1 that Hari is not in Amsterdam and will be attending the K-1 event in Azerbaijan this Saturday.

Hari has always had problems with the law, it's a real shame really because he has so much talent. Hopefully he can sort himself out and then go back to being one of the best kickboxers in the world.
